Gentle chiropractic care for babies, children and growing families.

Pediatric chiropractic care at Medispine is calm, gentle and adapted to your child’s age, comfort and stage of development. Our goal is to assess your baby or child’s spine, posture, movement and neuromusculoskeletal function with care, precision and reassurance.

We do not “crack” babies. One of the most common questions parents ask is: “Are you going to crack my baby?”

The answer is simple: no. Paediatric chiropractic care is not adult-style adjusting. For babies and young children, care is extremely gentle and adapted to their size, anatomy and comfort level. Techniques may include light pressure, soft positioning, gentle mobilization and careful observation of how your baby responds.

Parents are always part of the visit. We explain what we are doing, why we are doing it, and we move at a pace that feels calm, comfortable and reassuring for both you and your child.

What we look at during a pediatric chiropractic visit

A pediatric chiropractic assessment focuses on how your child’s spine, muscles, joints and nervous system are working together. We may look at posture, head position, spinal mobility, muscle tone, comfort with movement, primitive reflexes, tummy time tolerance and how your baby uses their body from one side to the other.

Head and neck position

To understand comfort, rotation and preference from side to side.

Spine and posture

To observe how your baby’s body is adapting after birth and during growth.

Muscle tension and movement

To identify areas that may feel restricted, sensitive or overworked.

Tummy time comfort

To support early neck, shoulder and spinal development.

Primitive reflexes

To observe normal neurological development and how your baby responds to movement and touch.

Feeding and holding positions

To understand whether posture or tension may be affecting comfort during daily routines.

Common Reasons Parents Consult

Parents know their child best. Sometimes they simply feel that something seems uncomfortable, uneven or harder than it should be. A paediatric chiropractic visit can help assess whether spinal, muscular or joint tension may be contributing to the way your child moves, rests or responds to daily activities.

Preference to turn the head one way

We assess neck mobility, posture and comfort from side to side.

Discomfort with tummy time

We observe spinal comfort, shoulder engagement and head control.

Uneven posture or movement

We look at symmetry, tone and movement patterns.

Feeding positions that seem difficult

We assess posture and neck comfort while respecting the role of lactation and medical providers.

Growing children with posture concerns

We assess spinal posture, movement habits and daily stress on the body.

Children in sports or active lifestyles

We support mobility, recovery, posture and healthy movement habits within a neuromusculoskeletal approach.

Your First Visit

Your child’s first visit is designed to feel calm, clear and supportive. We begin by listening to your concerns, your pregnancy and birth story, your baby’s habits, and what you have noticed at home.

Then, we perform a gentle paediatric assessment adapted to your child’s age. This may include observing posture, movement, spinal mobility, muscle tone, reflex responses and comfort in different positions. If care is appropriate, we explain our recommendations and begin with gentle techniques that are adapted to your child.

You will never be rushed, and you will always understand what we are doing. Our goal is to help you feel informed, reassured and confident in the next step.

FAQ

Parents often consult when they notice head preference, tension, posture changes, difficulty with tummy time, discomfort after birth or movement patterns they want assessed. The goal is to understand how the spine, muscles, joints and nervous system are adapting.

Paediatric chiropractic care at Medispine is gentle, age-adapted and based on a careful assessment. We always consider your child’s health history, comfort and needs before recommending care.

No. Pediatric chiropractic care is not adult-style cracking. For babies, techniques are very gentle and may involve light pressure, soft positioning and careful movement-based assessment.

Babies can be assessed from early infancy when parents have concerns or want guidance. The visit is adapted to the baby’s age, size and comfort.

Primitive reflexes are part of normal neurological development. We may observe reflex responses as part of a broader assessment, but we do not claim to treat neurological disorders. If needed, we refer to the appropriate provider.

If chiropractic care is appropriate, gentle care may begin during the first visit. If another type of care is more appropriate, we will guide you clearly.
